Night at the Market

So Monday night My Guy and I headed off with a bunch of other MN bloggers to a really fun event at the Mid-Town Global Market. We were there for a cooking demo and to learn about some fun in season veggies we can use in our cooking! The class we held at Kitchen in the Market and Molly was our Hostess/Teacher with the Mostest!

How can you NOT love a night that starts with veggies dipped in Vodka and Salt!!

I love this kind of event because not only does it give us a chance to go out and do something fun together but we got to meet other bloggers and talk a little shop! There are so many cool and creative people blogging in the Twin Cities!

Who knew there were so many fun flavors of Salt (and sugar)?! We purchased the Smoked Salt! OOH delightful!

The night started out with some Champagne or wine and yummy veggies. Then we had a chance to walk around the Market and see some of the stalls/shops. It has so many great ethnic stores/markets/restaurants and a super veggie market too! Italian ices and even an amazing pastry shop! I have known this place was here- but I had no idea what it really was! We cannot wait to go again and really take some time to explore and EAT!

They say the Macroons here are really “Crack-roons”!!
Supposedly the best Deli on the Planet! We buy our Hummus from this company at the Co-op!

Olives! Made My Guy drool! He Loves him some Olives!

What's this? Is My Guy at the Pastry counter? No! It was a false alarm- he was "just looking!"

I was "just looking" (Drooling) at the Homemade Italian Ice and Custards too!

Talking to us about the in season fresh ingredients she would be using in the Demo in a few minutes!

Morel Mushrooms and Ramps!

After the tour we went back to the Kitchen in the Market for our cooking demo. (after a refresh of our wine/champagne of course!) Molly demonstrated how to make a superb smelling and tasting Arugala and Ramp Pesto with Chick Pea flour Polenta. I had never heard of Ramps before- but they gave the Pesto a nice fresh garlicky taste and smell. (Almost like a chive!)

Pesto!

She put the pesto over the polenta and added a few Morel mushrooms- oh heavenly!!

The finished product!

It was a lovely evening. Networking, food, drink, ethnic market… really? Does it get any better than this? OH YES! I shared it with my Love!!

Aren't we cuuuute! Say Awwwww....

Seriously? He is my biggest fan and advocate! He was passing out my card- talking about our Detox and how I could help people be more successful in their own Wellness Journeys! I could not ask for a better partner in my life- let alone in helping me promote and get this whole Wellness Coaching career off to a strong start! I love that even THIS is something we can do together!

Thank you Kitchen in the Market & Molly and The Blog Pantry for a totally fun event. Check out these other local Twin Cities Bloggers: (Ladies I hope I got you all! If not I BEG your forgiveness and please let me know- or leave your blog link in the comments!)

Hi La, random question. In the first picture there is a green veggie/fruit(??) that is green on the outside and pink in the middle — what is it?? It looks like it’d be yummy!

Vanessa- Those are Watermelon Radishes and they were really good! Not as strong as regular radishes- and when roasted have more of a turnip type flavor. I could not find them at the co-op when I went there last night- so we are going to go back to the Global Market tomorrow- we want them as part of our apps for Easter Dinner!

That looks like the coolest market! I’m happy we are finally getting a Whole Foods! LOL! The olives remind me of the markets in Germany. Yum!
