One Little Word

If you are a scrapbooker/crafter it is likely you have heard of the concept of “One Little Word.” One of the bigger “names” in Scrapbooking- Ali Edwards does this every year and has made it very popular. http://aliedwards.com/2010/12/one-little-word-2011.html (Click there to see more information.)

I have participated in this idea for a couple of years now. (My word for 2010 was Cherish.) This year, because of the fact that my life is in so much flux, it has been hard to think of my goals for the year and because of that my word. But the other day, I stumbled upon it… through taking a photo of myself working out! (You KNOW I am so the expert at self-portraits! LOL)

Don't I look DETERMINED?

I posted this on FB with a note about being “determined!” As I did I realized that this should be my “word!” So I have been thinking about it… and I realized that it really is a great word for me this year!

Determined:–adjective 1. resolute; staunch: the determined defenders of the Alamo.- 2. decided; settled; resolved

I AM DETERMINED!!!

  1. Determined to maintain my healthy lifestyle as I go into the second year of this journey! (April will be two years since my surgery)
  2. Determined to get stronger in my body and my mind- get that self discipline back!
  3. Determined to not forget the lessons I have learned being too busy last year- to stay true to my mantra of “More Life, Less Work”
  4. Determined to maintain the amazing friendships I have developed this past year and grow new ones
  5. Determined not to be be afraid of love and to be open to finding it this year!
  6. Determined to run at least one half-marathon (Planning the Get In Gear in April- the same race that I ran my very first race ever last year- a 10K)
  7. Determined to continue to encourage people to get healthy and MOVE, keep The Curvy Life a vital and active blog
  8. Determined to get to my ultimate goal weight and maintain it there (just a little more!!)
  9. Determined to get a new job- hopefully one I can really enjoy and love doing.
  10. Determined to continue to travel and seek out new adventures in this BIG world!

See! Determined works for me! AND it has helped me identify some of my goals too!

Have you thought about what YOUR “One Little Word” could be? Sometimes having this kind of word in front of you- LITERALLY and FIGURATIVELY can really help keep you focused on your goals and your lifestyle changes.

Do you have a “word?”

Have you set your goals for the year?
